Mud Run!

Partner exerciseA mud run can be a great way to get motivated to get moving lose weight all while having a bit of fun with when doing them with friends or family. Good avenue to get inspired to train and reach your fitness goals whether they be to lose weight or to simply get moving. Just be careful not to get hurt and if you need to walk instead of run then go ahead and walk it. Sign up for something short to start like a 5k and just enjoy getting motivated by the group. Be sure to know yourself and know what you are capable of so you have fun and don’t get injured. If you are trying to lose weight and are not motivated to exercise solicit help from your friends and family, sign up for a mud run together and, don’t be afraid of getting dirty because you can always wash it off later in a shower! 🙂

Tips on training for your first 5k Mud Run

1. Start a good walk/jog interval training routine outdoors for 20-30 minutes

2. Get creative and set up some obstacles such as putting a rug down in your living room or in the yard to jump over or, a step at your local gym and time yourself doing jumps for a minute quickly

3.  Look for a Bootcamp class or circuit class that is suitable for beginners with a good coach that helps with form

4. Hire a personal trainer for motivation and to help you run an awesome Mud Run

5. Drink plenty of water and start eating healthy foods to give you the energy you need to run a great race

6. Sleep, be sure to get enough rest, at least 8 hours a night and if possible go to bed no later than 10:30pm

7. Have fun! Enjoy the process and have fun training with friends and or family, have a healthy competition with them

8. Don’t be afraid to get muddy and really dirty…. because you certainly will
